Proofreading v spellcheck
It was late at night, and I was reading an early draft of The Publisher…
As I read the section where Eleanor had arrived at Alexandra's flat in London. I was describing the flat and setting the scene of an opulent north London apartment when I spotted that there was a ‘n’ missing that changed the whole meaning.
The sentence was:
“Three huge widows looked out over the city of London.”
This one missing ‘n’ could have taken the story in a completely different direction!
Beware spellcheck.
